The year 2003 marks ADVENTURES ALOFT 20th anniversary. With the addition of party balloons, flowers, and gift baskets they felt that a name change was inorder to better describe in one word what they have grown into - Celebrations!. Kirby and Renee Kopp, co-owners say they have allowed a natural evolution to occur within their business.
In 1982, Kirby became involved in ballooning and then opened the balloon ride business the next year. He then met Renee and they married in 1988 and shortly thereafter she opened Balloon Central to create unique balloon decorations for weddings and other events. In 1995 she became Central Pennsylvania's first Certified Balloon Artist - raising the standard in balloon decorating in the area. As they started their family together, they soon grew out of their home based business, and in the summer of 1995 they opened their current storefront in Akron. Then in 1997 they added fresh flowers to their sales mix, where now they have grown into full-service florist status in their community. With the focus heading toward weddings they added Disc Jockey and tuxedo rental to their line up.
They are located on Rt. 322 in Ephrata and their store is literally filled with some of the most creative gifts for quite possibly any occasion. Upon entering this unique gift shop customers will find fresh and silk flowers, novelty balloons, gourmet food and gift baskets, hot air balloon collectibles, candles, fresh fudge and candies, Ty Beanie Babies and other unique and novelty gift items. This couple, both being hot air balloon pilots, also offer balloon rides as well, to locals and tourists taking them on scenic flights over Lancaster County. Since their opening, they have come to be known as "the place to go when you need a gift." A title they strive hard to keep. Celebrations! wants to increase their clientele to include more men. "We want men in the area to know that we are a great store to visit to buy the lady in their life something special", says Patti Nelson, assistant store manager. "We have gift baskets, fresh flowers, silk flowers, candy, chocolates and many offer gifts we women like to receive. We also deliver our creations nationwide."
Customer service is key to their business. They offer a great in-house credit program so customers can call in and have a last minute gift delivered the same day without having to leave their office or home. They also boast of their "Wish List" for the customers who want to buy one of everything! "We have a simple form our customers - only women so far have filled one out - of everything they would like for the next holiday/birthday/anniversary, to include the scents of candles they would like or their favorite flower. Then we keep it on file and the customer hands out our business cards to their spouse, parents, in-laws and children and let them know they have a Wish List with us. When their relatives come in to shop for our customer, we know exactly what their loved one wants and we help them select the PERFECT gift of their choice. What a Celebration!"
